Applications are now open for the Shift Hackathon, a 24-hour code sprint to be held in Split, Croatia on June 2 & 3. If you want to participate all you have to do is gather a team of no more than 5 people and register on http://shiftsplit.com before May 18. If you're selected as one of the top 15 teams, we’ll notify you by May 26.
If this is your very first hackathon, fear not, for the task is simple! You will have 24 hours straight to build an awesome new app in accordance with the theme provided to you at the venue. After you've successfully survived the crazy caffeine-fueled race to build your app, you'll have additional 3 minutes to pitch your project in front of the judges. The best team will take home $ 5,000, the second best $ 3,000 and the third best $ 2,000.
All three top teams will receive their awards on June 6, during the official awards ceremony at Shift Conference. This means the winners will also be treated with an opportunity to present their projects in front of more than 1000 conference attendees, all the key people from the startup world and the representatives of prestigious publications from the world of business & technology - such as Entrepreneur, Mashable and The Next Web!
